KitchenAid Refrigerator water Dispenser Acting Slow Repair Denver CO

Is your KitchenAid refrigerator water dispenser acting slow?

Here’s how to fix it.

The water dispenser is among the most indispensable options among today’s refrigerator features. What a pleasure to have a glass of clean, chilled, filtered water at the press of a button. Unfortunately, things can go wrong over time causing slowing down the water flow from the dispenser. It could take up to 10 minutes to fill up a glass of water.

If you are experiencing the situation with slow water dispensing, check these tips to fix the issue by yourself.

Follow these simple tips to get the refrigerator water dispenser working properly:

  • Check the owner’s manual

Read the troubleshooting section of the KitchenAid refrigerator manual. If you no longer have this document, look for a copy here. You will need the model and serial number located on the inside wall of the refrigerator compartment. Keep the manual in an easily accessible place as you may need it later.

  • Check the water line

If your refrigerator has recently been installed, check that the water tank and water lines have been purged. To verify this, select the water option in the dispenser system, make sure that the lock option for the dispenser is turned off, and press the water dispensing lever or button for 2 minutes to purge excess air from the system. If no water is dispensed after purging, make sure the water supply is turned on.

  • Check the water supply pressure

The homes water supply line connects to the refrigerator’s main water inlet valve, which requires water pressure between 20 and 120 PSI to operate properly. The low pressure may slow down the flow to the water dispenser.

If you are unable to find the source of the problem on your own, there could be something wrong with the refrigerator itself. Contact us by calling at (844) 944-2557 and we will send one of our experienced technicians to diagnose the problem with your appliance and repair it.

Here are things that might be causing your KitchenAid refrigerator water dispenser to act slowly or not to work at all:

Clogged water filter

KitchenAid refrigerator water filterThe filter removes any unwanted bacteria or harmful chemicals in your waters. It is located either in the base grill below the refrigerator compartment door or inside the refrigerator compartment. If the filter is clogged or restricted, it can reduce water pressure to the dispenser. The manufacturer recommends changing the filter every six months but if sediment and other particles clog the filter, it may require replacement sooner.

Damaged water line

Damaged water lineThe water line is an essential part of any refrigerator with water dispenser as it supplies the unit with water. It is located at the back of the refrigerator. If the water line is damaged, kinked or pinched, the water dispenser may slow.

Defective water inlet valve

Defective refrigerator water inlet valveThe water inlet valve allows water to flow through the filter. It is located in the rear of the refrigerator behind the back access panel. It the valve is defective, water may dispense very slowly.

We have specified the most common parts that might be at fault, but there are also many other ones. To determine the exact part that needs to be replaced, you may need expert appliance repair technician help.
